Last Saturday, while we were out and about running errands (you know, Target, Kohls, etc.) we were lucky to run into the annual Safety/Rescue fair. It's always held in our Target parking lot and they bring in fire trucks, police vehicles, medivac helicopters, and ambulances. We had a great time checking things out, especially watching the helicopters take off and leave and taking a ride on the fire truck ladder basket.
Carsyn all strapped in and ready to go...
Tanner equally as excited...
While we didn't watch any of the actual game, the kids were in their cheering mood for PSU...
Like we said, there were two helicopters at the fair...
Mommy and Carsyn talking with one of Amber's teacher friends we ran into...
Time for take off!!!
The kids were so excited to play firefighters for the day...
They even had a house fire for the kids to put out...
Tanner getting some instructions...
Focused...
Carsyn also got in on the firefighting action...
Time for the ride in the fire truck basket...
Daddy felt VERY comfortable on the ground taking the pictures...
Tanner inside one of the fire trucks...
They even had a police motorcycle there...
Tanner was ready to take off on his own...
Next up, the walk through the ambulance...
The paramedic explained his job and all the things inside the ambulance to the kids. Such a good learning experience...

A New Car!!!
Amber finally got a new car this past Saturday (a Chevrolet Equinox). So far, she loves it. We had to take the kids with us to pick it up and sign the final paperwork, which was a little distracting. But overall, they were very good. Here they are doing some coloring on the showroom floor...
"Daddy, we'd much rather be int he new car than standing in front of it, staring at the bright sun."
Time to go...

First "Real" Day of School
Since the parents went with the Kindergarten kids on the first day of school, Tanner's first day on the bus was actually his second day of school. Our bus stop is right next door which is going to be very convenient.
As you can see, we have a lot of kids at the stop (and apparently, it grew the next two days)...
Carsyn chasing Tanner around...
What a bunch of enthusiastic learners!
Tanner talking with Preston from across the street (he was trying to line up who he was going to sit with on the bus)...
Preston may have pulled the "I'm in first grade" card...
Carsyn was happy here, but when the bus drove away and Daddy said goodbye to go off to work, she was literally devastated...
Here we go!!!
One final wave goodbye...
We have a feeling there are going to be some fun times on bus 68 this year...

Welcome to Kindergarten!!!
Tanner officially started Kindergarten on Tuesday 8/30. Mom and Dad went with him on his first day to meet his teacher and classmates. He goes to Ferguson Elementary which has undergone massive construction in the past year (basically a brand new school), so it's very exciting.
Tanner showing off his new backpack (Justice League superheros). As you can see, he was totally excited about going...
Mom and Tanner walking to the school...
Dad's turn...
Ferguson is a really cool looking school (especially the older front as shown here). But it's the newer construction in the back that is really amazing.

Day with Daddy (2011)
It seems like every year about this time, the kids get their special day with Daddy while Amber has school in-service. This year, we went to Talleyrand Park in Bellefonte to feed the ducks and fish in the creek and play in their playground.
There were hundreds of ducks to chase around...
The kids loved throwing the food into the creek and watching the fish fight over it with the ducks...
Carsyn looking down (and making Daddy nervous!) into the creek from a bridge...
Cheesy girl...
Such a big kids these days...
Tanner tossing some food below...
Carsyn, too...
Tanner practically putting the food directly into the duck
Checking out some fish...
Big Brother and...well...read the shirt
The ducks were cute and very friendly...
The kids made their way over to the playground to burn off some steam...
Don't forget to duck (pun intended)!!!
Tanner was infatuated with the excavator and sand pit...
Carsyn demonstrating her strength...
"I want to help."
Carsyn even rode the ducks!
Not sure this is really helping, but Tanner didn't seem to mind...
The kids said goodbye making wishes...
And down for the count...
Finally, just a random one of Carsyn with her buddy...
